How To Download JERS-1 Satellite Imagery Data From JAXA GPortal

This tutorial is about how to download JERS-1 Satellite Imagery data from JAXA GPORTAL. JERS-1 consist of one optical sensor called OPS which working at Visible, NIR and SWIR spectrum and has 7 bands at 20 meter GSD, and a SAR Sensor resampled at 20m GSD

JERS-1 launched at 1992 and providing global remote sensing data during 1992 until the end of the mission at 1998.

The data can be used as alternative for Landsat 4, Landsat 5 and SPOT 1-3 for most of the nineties.

Data delivered in CEOS format and not all remote sensing software supports it, but JAXA already made a conversion tool which can generate geoTiff and KMZ and can be used further in most of remote sensing software
